I was craving some brisket BBQ so I'll keep this review simple. LOCATION: In the old Fresh Catch building in Kaneohe. Lots of parking around the building SERVICE: We came when it wasn't busy so we were able to seat ourselves. The server was prompt and the restaurant was clean. FOOD: I originally came here for some brisket but read the review about their Whiskey Smoke burger. So I got a burger and split it and we both shared make your own meat plate (2 choice meat with sides). We also had some Ube Mac Nut crunch for dessert. Their meat plate was ok. I've had Texas bbq many times and was kinda expecting more. The brisket was tender... not the "best". Their pork belly burnt ends was tasty... but it didn't make me drool. I think we should've gotten their brisket burnt ends but they were sold out. However, their Whiskey Smoke burger.... now this......5 out of 5 in my book. Their burger was DEEEELICIOUS!!! I didn't expect their burger to be that good. You must try. So overall, maybe wouldn't come back here for their meat plate.... I'll definitely be back for their burger.

We were looking for a lunch place after a tour and the wife ran across this place on Yelp. It was not too far from where we were at the time and we had not had BBQ in Hawaii before, so off we went. it's a real restaurant with tables, waiter service, silverware, and menus. In other words, it is not a food truck. The ambience is like a Texas BBQ joint. There were several tables inside. The restaurant is attractive inside. Both the wife and I had the two meat platter ($26) which comes with 2 sides and 1 sauce. She had brisket with pulled pork. Her sides were smoked Mac n'cheese and coleslaw. I had brisket and chicken. My sides were smoked Mac n' cheese and BBQ beans, The brisket was very tender and juicy. My main complaint about the brisket is that it obviously came from the point so it was very fatty, and I like lean. I gave the wife my fat which left me with very little meat. I did not think that the portion was generous, but the flavor and tenderness were good. My chicken was very smoky and tender. One of the best smoked chicken I have had. The wife liked the pulled pork and said it was not fatty. So the proteins were very good. Her coleslaw was excellent. The waitress said it was mayo based so I did not get it, but in fact it was vinegar based. She did not care for the Mac n' cheese. It was dry and did not have much cheese holding everything together. I agree that the Mac n' cheese was not very good. It had no smoke flavor and was the oddest Mac n' cheese I ever had. I would never get it again. The BBQ beans were very good, a bit sweet and with some smoke. There is a selection of 4 sauces (you get one). We both got the "spicy guava" sauce but in all honesty it was not spicy and was completely unnecessary. The meat can stand on its own without any sauce. Our server got our order correct but seemed not to be engaged. We asked for a soda with no ice and two minutes later it came with ice. She did not know that the coleslaw was not mayo based. Overall, it was a very good meal and we were pleased that we found this place. It was the closest thing to home (Texas BBQ) that we are likely to find on Oahu. If I lived on Oahu I would come here often.

I was able to visit Whiskey Smoke for the first time recently. Very interesting set up. It's on a one way lot and the parking wraps around the store. I would imagine when they're busy parking would be difficult. Inside there's a lot of space. We walked up and ready their menu board which looked like it was geared towards bigger orders. One of the workers asked if we were dining in or out. We said out. He said we could take a seat anywhere and we'd be served. In case you run into this, sit down. I ordered the two entrees plate because it was the only way I could try more than 1 thing on the menu. The menu is pretty decent size. I got the chicken, brisket, Mac n cheese and beans. All were great! The Mac n cheese were by far my favorite. So gooey and cheesy...fantastic! They also have cornbread. I haven't had good cornbread in a long time. I have to say, this was great cornbread! The people were very nice and friendly. Made sure we were good. Because they have so many delicious items on their menu I will for sure be coming back! Burnt ends and the loco moco sounds so good!

Whiskey Smoke 808 on the Windward side hits the bbq spot. The brisket was fatty, tender, and delicious. The pork ribs were leaner and denser. The chicken was slightly on the drier side in comparison to the above, but with great smoky flavor. The standard choice of sides were a nice accompaniment to the meats. They also have a selection of bbq sauces to choose from.
